wAnywhere Linux Agent build installation

Install the .deb package, resolve dependencies, and configure an Xorg session so the agent runs correctly.

Install the package

Install the .deb build and fix missing dependencies

  1. Go to your Downloads folder (or wherever the installer was saved).
  2. Install the application with: sudo dpkg -i your-app_x.x.x_amd64.deb

  3. If required packages are missing, run: sudo apt-get install -f

    Dependencies: This command installs any packages the .deb needs and completes the setup.

Configure Xorg session

Select GNOME or Ubuntu on Xorg at login

  1. Click your user icon on the login screen.
  2. Before entering your password, look for a gear icon in the lower-right corner or near the Sign In button.
  3. Open the session menu and select:
    1. GNOME on Xorg, or
    2. Ubuntu on Xorg (on Ubuntu)

  4. Enter your password and log in.

    Verify X11: Open a terminal and run echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE — you should see x11.

    1. After logging in, open a terminal.
    2. Run: echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE
    3. Expected output: x11

Logout

Sign out when you need to switch sessions or users

  1. To log out, click the Power button icon, then select Logout.
