Download the .dmg file
1. Get the .dmg file from the official website or trusted source.
2. The file will usually appear in your Downloads folder.
Open the .dmg file
1. Double-click the .dmg file.
2. A virtual disk will mount on your Desktop or appear in the Finder sidebar.
Drag the application to Applications folder
1. A window usually opens showing the app icon and an Applications folder shortcut.
2. Drag and drop the app icon into the Applications folder..
3. This copies the app to your Applications directory.
Eject the .dmg
1. Once copied, right-click the mounted disk on your Desktop or Finder sidebar → Eject..
2. You can also press the eject button next to it in Finder.
3. This copies the app to your Applications directory.
Run the application
1. Go to Applications folder, find the app, and double-click it.
2. On first launch, macOS may show a security prompt:
  1. If asked, click Open.
  2. If blocked, go to System Preferences → Security & Privacy → General → Allow Anyway.
(Optional) Delete the .dmg file
1. After installation, you no longer need the .dmg.
2. You may safely delete it to free up space.
